July Part 3: Invasion of the Shelby girl

This past weekend, Jess and Al brought the Shelby-monster to Dallas to visit us and Jonathan. We had such a fun weekend. Not nearly long enough, but I just always love having my family in town. Something about having them in my home where I have made a life makes me so excited for them to be a part of that, even just for a few days. My sisters are my best friends in the world. We had a good weekend around Dallas. Here are a few of the pictures we took...

Shopping around downtown McKinney

July Part 2: My birthday

My birthday was perfect. Brandon was so sweet to invite a bunch of our friends over for my birthday. We just grilled out and had fun with the people we consider our second family. It's always sad not getting to be with family on birthdays and holidays, but these are the people who kinda make me feel like I do have family here. God placed us in a group at church where we truly feel comfortable, loved, challenged, and supported. We are so blessed. What a better way to spend a birthday than with some of the people we love the most.

A few of the girls on my birthday

Brandon surprised me with the most delicious cakes I might have ever eaten. Tres leches chocolate and vanilla. Really both were so truly amazing. Great job, Brandon. Thank you for loving me and my sweet tooth.

27 years old, can you believe it?!?

July Part 1- Houseguests!

July. July has flown by. So here are the posts I meant to post so long ago.  As many of you know, our bother-in-law, Jonathan, came to live with us for the month of July. He did one of  his away rotations here in town at Southwestern Medical Center. He is in his last year of Med School at University of Memphis to be a Urologist. So we had a very fun month hearing all his stories and getting to know him better. He and Jess were just married last October, so it was good to get some quality time even though Jess was back home in Memphis bringing home the bacon. Unfortunately it had to be July when he came when it was above 100 degrees EVERY SINGLE DAY. He didn't complain much about it, he was just excited whenever he didn't have to stay late at the hospital. Jess came to visit that first weekend of July 8th. We mostly just cooked and watched movies and hung out. It was great.

I love July

I love July. It's a great month. In Texas it is not entirely pleasant all the time because of the 100+ degree heat, but I still love it.

Here are 10 of my very top FAVORITE things about this month:
1. Watermelon- absolutely necessary to keep stocked in the fridge

2.  Laying out- I just love laying in the sun, especially if I can be floating in the pool

3. Fresh tomatoes from my garden, yummmm

4. Drinking lots of Sonic- Happy Hour is my faaaavorite

5. Baseball- the All-American sport is in full swing, and my husband is in a verrrry good mood because of that
6. My birthday, always fun times

7.  Water-skiing, which I have yet to do this summer but hope to sometime sooooon

8. Grilling out and eating yummy salads like this-

9. Driving around with my windows rolled down and Bailey flappin her ears out the window

10. 4th of July with great friends and lots of fireworks
Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend, I know we did!

A Little Boy's Dream

Ok so I'm still catching up on blog posts, so here goes. Last weekend, Brandon's childhood dreams came true. We got invited by some friends to go to a Rangers game and sat RIGHT behind the home dugout. Brandon was in heaven. Seriously, I don't know if I've ever seen him so excited. I'm pretty sure that's as close as Brandon will ever be to starstruck. We were close enough to talk to the players and Brandon caught a ball from Taylor Teagarten. I even think Ian Kinsler heard me talking to him:) Here are some of the pictures Brandon took...
